A brief description of the post-consumer food waste composting program:
Students are asked and encouraged to contribute to waste reduction by leaving their leftover food scraps on their plates at the dish return at our largest café, the Bear’s Den in the South 40 House. The kitchen staff scrapes the customers’ waste into our compost collection bins. Both the pre and post-consumer food waste is then collected by St. Louis Composting to be composted off-site and returned to the campus to be used in our landscaping operations.
