A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:
The Virginia Sustainability in Higher Education (VASHE) Consortium brings together sustainability professionals from colleges and universities in the state to share expertise and best practices as well as questions and struggles. The network typically holds quarterly calls and an annual in-person meeting for information-sharing and support. W&L is a frequent presenter - and always a grateful listener! - at these gatherings.

Mentoring is also one of the purposes of the VASHE network. Any new members are encouraged to reach out and visit other campuses. W&L has hosted new sustainability officers either in person or on the phone on several occasions.

W&L also makes opportunities for engagement with our campus garden and composting program available to neighboring Virginian Military Institute, which does not have equivalent facilities.
