A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

ENV 220 course: Campus Sustainability Consulting and LEED Expertise

Using the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems and working alongside sustainability consultants, students investigate the W&L campus grounds and facilities and develop detailed action plans for the university, in order to meet sustainability and climate goals and maximize credits toward a LEED Campus designation. The consulting teams will present their findings to university decision makers in order to assist W&L in achieving LEED Silver Certification or better for all new construction and major renovations.

While LEED Lab courses may not be new in general, we have never had a course like this before on our campus. Additionally, we have never had students work in a consulting capacity for university decision-makers in regards to sustainability and building projects on campus.
