A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:

In February 2015, all staff and faculty at Washington and Lee University were invited to participate in a third customized campus climate survey. This survey, which has been conducted every three years since 2009, was conducted by an independent research firm, ModernThink, which gathers data for The Chronicle of Higher Education's Great Colleges to Work Program. Fifty-two percent of the University community participated in the most recent survey.

The ModernThink survey delineates the various groups on campus - faculty, administration, staff, operations, etc - and asks questions associated with job satisfaction, fairness in compensation and benefits, and whether or not you feel/have felt discriminated against. Qualitative responses are collected, as well.

The data collected is shared with the entire campus community in an open forum. Additionally, senior administration and HR use the data to determine areas in which to improve. The most recent results have been informative and instrumental in shaping our current diversity initiatives for campus.
