Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution, including how each program addresses the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability:

In 2001, Washington and Lee University received a grant from the US Department of Education Fund for Improvement of Post-Secondary Education, to begin a consortium with the Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM) and the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense (UENF). UENF and UFAM received similar funding from the Brazilian Ministry of Education. UFAM is a federal university located in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas State. UENF is a state university in Campos dos Goytacases in Rio de Janeiro state, a 3 hour car drive from Rio de Janeiro city. This project was funded from 2001 to 2012, and focused on environment and sustainable development.

The project is now being internally funded but has broadened from a focus on the environment to a focus on interdisciplinary studies in general. Topics could include environment, poverty, sustainable development, public policy, race relations, educational policy, women's and gender studies, culture and society or other areas of interest to the student.
