The Investment Committee oversees the integration of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) considerations into investment management strategies for 100% of the College's endowment, processes and practices in the belief that these factors can benefit the endowment fund’s performance, and provide a qualitative impact consistent with the values, culture and mission of Warren Wilson College.

Examples of CIR actions during the previous three years:
The CIR has worked to develop and pass an ESG investment policy, and to divest all endowment holdings from fossil fuels (defined as the Carbon Underground 200), starting in 2015. By January 2020, the divestment was highly successful and more than 99% of the entire endowment is fossil-fuel free.
