An inventory of food and beverage purchases that qualify as sustainably/ethically produced:
A brief description of the methodology used to conduct the inventory, including the timeframe and how representative samples accounted for seasonal variation (if applicable):

During the month of November we sorted through our dining invoices from August 2018-August 2019. We did not have the capacity to break down all of the spending on each category of plant-based items, however, we have an accurate spending on plant-based items. For sustainable and ethical products, we compiled a working list of all items we knew were certified and then investigated in our walk-in refrigerators for more products with certification. Then we recorded the spending on each certified item from our invoices.

A brief description of the institution’s sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:

Sodexo purchases certified/sustainable/ethical food and beverage items as much as possible. We also work hard to purchase available produce and meat products from the Campus Farm and Garden (which both follow certified organic & certified humane production procedures). Additionally, we work to reduce our carbon footprint by continually tracking the amount of local food we purchase and researching local alternative products that we can purchase.
