The first student to pursue an Interdisciplinary Major in Sustainability Studies graduated in 2018. The student is mentoring 10 other students who are pursuing the same track of study.

The Wake Forest Environmental Program offers an Environmental Science or an Environmental Studies Minor. The Environmental Program provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study of human-environmental interaction. The program seeks to identify and apply perspectives from biology, chemistry, physics, geography, English, government, economics, history, law, ethics, and anthropology to the study of human impact on the natural environment. The environmental science or the environmental studies minor, coupled with a liberal arts major, is designed to prepare students for careers in the environmental sciences, law, public health, public policy, and public administration, and to develop attitudes and values consistent with a sustainable environmental future.
