A brief description of the campus climate assessment(s) :
In partnership with the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is currently (Spring 2015) administering the Diverse Learning Environments Survey (DLE), a student climate assessment. Administered to sophomores and juniors only, the DLE is designed to gather information about the attitudes and perceptions of students regarding various issues related to social and academic life. The survey will gather data to benchmark institutional strengths and opportunities for improvement as related to campus climate and ultimately influence the strategic goals and initiatives of the ODI, Division of Campus Life, and other offices and units that support student success.

A brief description of the employee diversity and employment equity assessment(s):
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) employs the Equity Scorecard Project, an initiative adapted from research from the Center for Urban Education at USC, to evaluate the state of equity among staff members at the institution. Using institutional data dissaggregated by race, ethnicity, and gender, the project examines inequities in representation across cabinet-level units and among various levels of leadership. The project involves an evidence team of 12 staff members who provide strategic direction regarding the strategic and communication processes. Currently, a state of equity report is being compiled by ODI and will be presented to the campus community during the upcoming academic year. The project will culminate with an action planning phase, which will inform the next phase of the Strategic Plan to Foster Diversity and Inclusion.
