The university's Vehicle Fleet / Driver Management Administrative Procedure states that "it is the policy of WFU to continually improve the efficient use of vehicle fuels in an effort to reduce emissions and operating costs. To reduce overall emissions on campus and improve air quality, all vehicles on university property are prohibited from idling unnecessarily. Vehicle operators will adhere to the following standards:
1. Idling is prohibited (with the limited exceptions listed below) when the ambient temperature is above 32 degrees F.
2. Five (5) minute idle time limit when ambient temperature is 32 degrees and below.
3. Idling is prohibited in “No Idle Zones”. Signs indicate the location of these zones.
4. Vehicles will not be left idling when the operator is away from the vehicle (with the limited exceptions listed below).
a. Emergency response vehicles when responding to an emergency
b. Vehicles that must remain a specific temperature for onboard materials.
c. Health or safety reasons (e.g., severe weather conditions, use of vehicle safety features)
d. Below 0 degrees for diesel vehicles.
e. Traffic conditions."
Additionally, the administrative procedure that to "encourage efficient use of vehicles and fuel, employees traveling to the same destination are encouraged to carpool when possible."

Wake Forest University is classified as a synthetic minor source. We retained an outside consultant to conduct dispersion modeling under worst-case conditions with all boilers operating simultaneously that also includes all emergency power generators on campus.

A brief description of the institution’s initiatives to minimize air pollutant emissions from stationary sources, including efforts made during the previous three years:
In 2014 a 25.58 MMBtu/hr higher efficiency boiler was installed at the campus utilities operations center. The new boiler allows us to shut down all other boilers at the center during the four summer months due to its greater efficiency, and is used as base source during the winter months, again allowing for greater fuel efficiency and steam generation.
