A brief description of the program:
University students diverted more than 8,680 pounds of waste from dumpsters and landfills during the Spring 2011 move out.
This program is called “Deacs Donate,” and facilitates the donation of clothing, small appliances, and household goods to the Salvation Army.
Various other waste diversion initiatives take place at the Deacs Donate stations, such as paper recycling, the collection of re-usable to-go containers for dining and personal recycling bins, which are cleaned and redistributed to students the following year at move in.
