The Football Locker Room facility was ranked LEED Silver in 2011. The Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility was ranked LEED Silver in 2015. More information can be found here: https://vt.edu/about/locations/buildings/indoor-athletic-training.html

The Virginia Tech Office of Sustainability runs the Game Day Green Team. During home football games, the student-run Green Tailgating team collects bottles and cans from tailgates and hands out blue recycling bags. The team also strives to build awareness around sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction through their efforts. Blacksburg Transit, the bus system that services Virginia Tech and Blacksburg, runs modified routes on gamedays to get students and community members to a from the games to reduce single occupancy vehicle traffic.
