Does the institution use at least one waterless urinal?:
Yes

A brief description of the technology employed:
On Nov. 13, 2012 flush handles were removed and locking flush valve retrofit devices were installed on 4 urinals in Sterrett Facilities Complex and 3 urinals in the Grounds Building as a trial. A screen with a citrus scent was installed in each urinal to counteract odors. These devices are supplied by BETCO Corp. and are called a “SmartVALVE” and “SmartSCREEN”. The locking flush valve is a device that is installed in a standard urinal. It replaces the flush handle so the urinal cannot be flushed during normal use. It is essentially transformed into a waterless urinal. The difference in this device from a standard waterless urinal is that the water supply to the urinal and the drain both remain in place. The recommended operation is for the device to remain locked during the day, operating as a waterless urinal. The custodian has a “key” that can be inserted in the locking flush valve, turn it and flush the urinal once or twice each morning during routine restroom cleaning.
