A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Virginia Tech has created a new Bachelor of Science degree program titled Water: Resources, Policy, and Management. This effort included coordination and cooperation of 5 colleges (Architecture and Urban Studies, Agriculture and Life Science, Science, Engineering, and Natural Resources and Environment), and 10 academic departments. Administered in the College of Natural Resources and Environment, this degree program is a leading national effort, focused on the sustainability of water, both quantity and quality. A truly interdisciplinary effort, the new water degree is an innovative, ground-breaking, and extraordinary outcome that will address the world’s number one sustainability issue: water.
