To meet the criteria of Virginia Executive Order 77: Virginia Leading by Example to Reduce Plastic Pollution and Solid Waste, as of July 2021 VCU has banned the purchase or sale of single use plastic water bottles, with additional single-use plastic items to be reduced and banned in a phased plan.
