VCU Health has recently become a member of Practice Greenhealth and has a sustainability group tasked with implementing Practice Greenhealth's suggested changes and to address sustainability initiatives within the hospital. Formerly called Green Nurses, the Eco-Sustainability group consists of health professionals and members of the sustainability staff working together to pursue sustainability goals. VCU Health also utilizes single-stream recycling and has a battery recycling program.
