Documentation supporting the average adjunct faculty compensation reported above (text):
Adjunct Faculty per-course rate was a difficult figure to find due to the fact that their are many individuals with administrative roles as well as individuals associated with courses as instructors but do not actually teach the course, who only serve as coordinator or grade entry clerks. In addition, payroll records need to be brought in for each faculty and pay periods need to be correlated with academic semesters to calculate salary per course credit as adjuncts being part time with great variability in their teaching cycles.
A new university initiative is being rolled out to all academic units to pay a minimum of $1,000 per credit (Generally $3000 a course). Most academic units have already adopted this. And funds are being allocated centrally for Adjunct instructional faculty who reside in non academic units.
