A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years:

The VCU Division of Community Engagement is using the Richmond 2015 UCI Road World Championships as an opportunity to offer 23 one credit courses to students designed to actively engage students in learning around the bike race and alternative transportation. Courses range in concentration from anthropology and language to physics and alternative transportation planning. These courses will culminate in a final publication, The Great VCU Bike Race Book that will highlight student work and learning throughout the race. These courses are intended to enhance student knowledge of alternative transportation and sustainability in an urban setting while generating innovative ideas and initiatives on campus.

Faculty members leading these courses have a financial incentive of up to $6000 in development funds per course depending on how many instructors are involved in each course.
