A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
VCU has implemented a series of innovative behavior change initiatives, including the Sustainability Pledge, VCU Green Map, Green Works Team, and annual Sustainability events. To date, the Sustainability Pledge has been taken by 1,756 students, faculty, and staff members at VCU. The VCU Green Map is an innovative tool for members of the VCU and surrounding community to locate sustainability assets on both campuses, including LEED Buildings, biking infrastructure, locally-sourced foods, and more. VCU also schedules numerous Sustainability Events throughout the year including Campus Sustainability Day, RecycleMaina, Earth Day, Arbor Day, Great Bike Round-Up, and America Recycle’s Day. These events all incorporate educating students on sustainability at VCU with appropriate information as well as Segway tours of our sustainable assets on the university’s two campuses.
