The Student Sustainability Committee (SSC) serves as an arm of the Sustainability leadership Council (SLC). The SSC is made up of students (undergraduate and graduate) who apply to serve on the committee. As part of the application process, current committee executive members interview the perspective members and select new members based off their written application as well as interview.

SSC members are required to participate in Spring and Fall training that contains educational material that prepares members to be student leaders. SSC is charged with addressing sustainability programing and education for all Villanova students (undergraduate and graduate) and is guided by the university sustainability plan.

SSC programs are funded through the office of sustainability. this funding helps support events, educational programs, advocacy outreach, and sustainability giveaways.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
As part of fall training, SSC members participate in Villanova's Challenge Course. This course helps members come together as a team and trust each other, but also helps to build their communication and empathy skills they need to be effective peer-to-peer educators.

There are also typically trips taken during the fall training to see and hear from local organizations looking to advance sustainability initiatives. for example, the students traveled to a local CSA center to see how those programs are run and the challenges they face.
