Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

In order to arrive at the number of students engaged in community service, we consulted a variety of community service program directors and student coordinators regarding the number of students involved with their programs. These numbers were added to come up with a number of participant-equivalents.

To calculate the total number of community service hours, we started with the fact that students participate in Field Work for either 4 (half-credit) or 8 hours (full-credit) a week for the 12-week semester. Program managers who oversee community service in their areas keep track of attendance and the number of events they host, thus an accurate time calculation was able to be performed.
