Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Solar installation on Multidisciplinary Arts Trailer

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In March 2017, students led an initiative to install solar panels and batter storage on the Collaborative Arts Across Disciplines (CAAD) Trailer. Known as the Collaboratory, it is a multidisciplinary arts space that travels around campus showcasing student work. Through a hands-on workshop students learned about how to install solar panels, and how battery storage works. The Collaboratory can now operate off the grid providing even more artistic options for the multidisciplinary efforts that go on in the space. This project is a melding of the arts, sciences, and sustainability.

Since the installation, students and staffs from across the college have used the space to host events such as:
- an off the grid solar powered open mic, concert, and art show
- a campus map making workshop
- art exhibition space at campus festivals and 5k's
- a model tiny house and exhibit modeling the energy needs
- community outreach events, including a showcase of children's books from across the world written during times of war and conflict.
