A brief description of how the institution ensures that its lowest-paid workers (including contractors, if applicable) receive sustainable compensation:
Vassar College ensures sustainable compensation by engaging in a Living Wage review during every bargaining-union negotiation period. Additionally, a market review is completed during the bargaining process. In comparison with regional New York living wages, Vassar pays above the average minimum wage to every single one of its employees.
Non-bargaining union employees (faculty, administration) are guaranteed living and competitive wages via Vassar’s participation with CUPA (College and University Professional Association for Human Resources). CUPA provides peer salary and compensation information from other institutions of higher learning. Vassar both submits to CUPA as well as uses CUPA data to ensure fair financial compensation for faculty and administration. More information on CUPA can be found at, www.cupahr.org
