A brief description of the program:
Vassar Campus has a Shared Bike Program—the Pink Bike Program. It is a gift from the Class of 2009 and Paul Lehman ’86. Over 50% of the Class of 2009 gave money to help start the program, in addition to a large donation from Paul. The program is open to all members of the Vassar community. For a $10 fee, members receive a key that will unlock any pink bike. Students can register at the Bike Shop in the basement of Strong House. The fees generated by the program will be used to maintain the bikes, and a student employment position has been designated for bike repair and maintenance. The Pink Bikes have been around for about 4 years for now. Each year the program tries to add a few more bikes, so now in total there are 40 pink bikes available for lending out around campus. Around 60 keys are distributed to students for these pink bikes.
