Sustainability research focuses on a key principle of sustainability (such as social equity or environmental stewardship); addresses a sustainability challenge (such as climate change or poverty); or furthers our understanding of the interconnectedness of societal and environmental
challenges. Sustainability research leads toward solutions that support economic prosperity, social wellbeing, and ecological health.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:

To complete the inventory of sustainability research on campus, the CCS contacted the department/program directors and chairs. The directors were asked to contact faculty in their respective departments and to identify any research that fit within the CCS’s definition. Student intern met with certain professors and discussed research to assure that it met with the CCS’s guidelines. The Faculty Scholarship Database was also consulted to ensure that no faculty member was left out.
