A brief description of the event(s):

1. Dutchess County Natural Resource Inventory Conference (November 6, 2010)

A one-day symposium-style introduction to the newly-revised Dutchess County Natural Resource Inventory (NRI) was held on November 6, 2010 at Vassar College. Vassar professors played a large role in completing this revision, authoring or coauthoring, three out of 9 chapters. The Vassar College Environmental Research Institute provided monetary support for the symposium which included presentations by each of the chapter authors, followed by panel discussions on potential applications of the NRI in local decision-making processes. The keynote address was given by an emeritus professor of the college who had long been active in local planning issues. Attendees of the conference included members of the county government (including the commissioner of planning), representatives of local town boards, planning boards, and environmental review boards, and interested citizens.
