A brief description of the key components of the custom OHSMS:

Vanier College has a Joint Health and Safety Committee that meets monthly and whose general mandate is to advise, provide support to the college in matters of Health and Safety and promote Health and Safety in the Community. Members are representing the administration and staff in equal numbers. The College abides by the 'Commission des normes et de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CNESST) which in charged with promoting rights and obligation related to Health and Safety for both employees and employers in the province. There are regular inspections by this entity at the College. The main components of the Health and Safety services at Vanier College are : an asbestos management program that includes an up-to-date registry, procedures and training for workers and awareness program; workplace hazardous materials information system (W.H.M.I.S.) and SDS management system; workplace incidents and near misses reporting and investigation; machine safety; biosafety; risk analysis with risk reduction measures; and more recently COVID management, including procedures, tracing, communication, building ventilation, etc.

A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :

Employees, students and visitors are asked to fill out an incident report for all injuries, near misses and incident. They are then submitted to security, HR and Health and Safety Manager. They are recorded in a project management tool.
