1st campaign

Name of the campaign:
Battery Recycling Campaign

A brief description of the campaign:
This is an annual campaign organized with ENJEU. The campaign involves raising awareness about the impact of battery recycling through media and displays platforms. The collection was organized from March 4th to the 20th 2020. There are numerous collection sites across campus such as in the N building lobby, B-205, auditorium and receiving and shipping. The campaign started at the beginning of the winter semester with a social media blitz. Posters around campus are near collection boxes and infographic arrows indicate where collection boxes are and provide information regarding how batteries are recycled and reused. Campaign details are also posted in the staff newsletter Intercom. Batteries are sent to Call2Recycle Canada to be tabulated and the CEGEP with the greatest weight of batteries wins monetary prizes.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Students and staff contributed a minimum total of 70 kilograms of batteries to recycle in the 2019-2020 academic year (exact number is currently unknown because of tabulation error). The number is lower than that of 2018-2019 year because the campaign was finished a week early because of COVID-19 related school closing. In 2018-2019 academic year, Vanier collected 150.5kg collected during the battery recycling competition.

2nd campaign

Name of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Bike Week Challenge

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Bike Week Challenge is a campaign to raise awareness about sustainable methods of transportation and increase the number of students and staff that bike to school. The challenge was organized in the 2018-2019 academic year and was part of the Mon Campus À Vélo initiative by ENJEU. Bike week Challenge has been organized yearly since 2013. The event however, was not organized in the 2019-2020 academic year as efforts were diverted to the organization of the Climate Action Week. For the Bike Week Challenge, students and staff would check-in at the front entrance of the main building between 7:30 to 9am from Monday to Friday. Checking-in required logging the distance they travelled, and they would receive a ballot to enter a draw to win prizes. The grand prize was a $450 gift card for a new bike. Approximately 75 people participated in the challenge and the longest distance travelled was a student from Rosemère biking a distance of approximately 25km.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
