A brief description of how weather data or sensors are used:
Irrigation systems on all Valencia College campuses use older rain sensor devices, as required by Florida law. These shut off the systems automatically when a preset amount of rainfall has been received.
Older irrigation controllers at our Winter Park and Criminal Justice Institute Campuses have been replaced with field proven Smart Controllers from Baseline. These are automatic soil moisture sensor based central controls that allows for remote control and data tracking, utilizing two-wire technology. In 2011 on our East Campus we replaced one older controller and will replace ten older controllers with new technology, reducing the number of original controllers to 3 Baseline controllers by end of year 2012. Our West Campus will install Baseline controller on our newest building and retrofits will be on going throughout year replacing older controllers.
