A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:
Custodial supervisors, who do their own purchasing, were instructed to buy Green Seal or EcoLogo by the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and Sustainability, starting in 2006. They have continued buying these products from three vendors. The bulk of the non-Green products purchased were made up of hand sanitizers for the common areas, disinfectants, ceramic tile cleaners, carpet extraction cleaners, and tile floor cleaners. Staff have been trained in green housekeeping techniques since 2006.

Three of our 6 campuses have in-house custodial staff while the newest and smallest three campuses contract with outside firms. The RFP for those janitorial services, which include green cleaning, is attached. See section 4.6 of this document.
