A brief description of the program(s):
Valencia College has incentives for developing sustainability courses. Starting in fall 2012, a 2-day course modeled on the Piedmont or Ponderosa Project will assist instructors in diverse fields to develop units with a sustainability focus. Completion of this 2-day course will allow the participant 10 PDUs, which translates into higher compensation, as below.

A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:
The college's Faculty Development program requires tenure-track and tenured professors to take professional development courses.Taking 25 hours of professional development units (PDUs) per year allows a salary increase of $750 and taking 50 hours or more allows an increase of $1500. The college also encourages adjuncts to take 60 PDUs to reach Associate Faculty status, which allows them to earn $100 more per 3 credit course. To maintain Associate Faculty status requires completion of 20 PDUs per year.
