President Initiative to Improve Diversity and Inclusion

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In spring 2019, President Cockett created a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force to guide the university’s efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive university system. The task force will also guide four working groups: Student Recruitment, Retention and Success; Faculty and Staff Hiring, Retention and Success; Training, Instruction and Research; and On-Campus Diversity Committees and Organizations.
Task Force Charges:
- Conducting a campus climate assessment on university inclusion.
- Developing a five-year strategic plan for diversity and inclusion at USU.
- Convening key players on a regular basis to oversee implementation of the strategic plan.
- Producing annual progress reports to monitor effectiveness of the strategic plan.

The Aggies Think Care Act Group supports civic responsibility and inclusion. It also fosters a campus community that values human dignity, social responsibility, and respect for diversity. In support of the President's efforts to improve diversity and inclusion. Aggies Think Care Act hosted its second Inclusive Excellence Symposium this month. The president hosted the university's first diversity dinner in 2019, and the university hosted its 25th annual diversity awards in 2019.
