4.1 Applied learning for sustainability program
List or sample of currently active/available applied learning or living laboratory experiences for students that address sustainability challenges:
Through on-site research and engagement with applied conservation and sustainability practices, students develop and refine skills in the areas of observation, data collection, experimentation, land management, and stewardship. From a range of on campus facilities to the myriad field sites in the region, our students have access to diverse learning perspectives and opportunities. Whether on campus or off, these sites provide experiential learning about climate, soil, insect, aquatic, terrestrial conservation; the use and management of diverse greenspaces in the form of the campus, nearby parks, conservation areas; and the implementation of circular economies perspectives and waste reduction in area management facilities. Students engaged in applied learning experiences include various credit bearing courses and practicums, summer learning experiences, and supervised internships:

Each applied learning/living laboratory is managed by a specific office and/or department of Ursinus College. Specific goals for each area are set by the specific department. Goals and assesment of these areas are managed by their specific departments.
