A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is chaired by Dr. Emily Monago, Chief Diversity Officer. As the chairperson for the council, Dr. Monago reviews the charge annually and makes adjustments as needed. The 2017-2018 charge of the Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is:
-Inventory and evaluate current campus diversity and inclusion programming, activities, and other educational efforts and identify areas of weakness for future development;
-Support the Chief Diversity Officer in developing a 2017-2022 University of Wyoming Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan; and
-Facilitate campus and community collaborations that make progress toward achieving the diversity, equity, and inclusion goals for the University of Wyoming as outlined in the strategic plans for the university and for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has created two workshops related to cultural competence. These are the "Cultural Competence Workshop" and the "Interrupting and Stopping Bias Workshop." Both are administered voluntarily to students, staff, and faculty (which is why "some" of each group have participated). Some of the topics covered in the "Cultural Competence Workshop" are:
-Interrupting & Dismantling Racism
-Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions
-Creating Inclusive Organizations
-Creating Inclusive Teams & Classrooms from the Start
-Navigating Difficult Situations
