A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:
The plan commits to reductions in three major areas of greenhouse gas emissions by 2015. The first commitment is a 1-3% reduction in emissions derived from direct stationary and mobile sources, namely the university's fleet vehicles. The second commitment is a 10-20% reduction in emissions through energy conservation and the purchasing of renewable energy. The third commitment is a 3-5% reduction in emissions through university initiatives with regard to non-energy generation, such as transport, waste, and water. These reductions signify Phase 1 of the plan for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
