The UWSP Hate/Bias Response Team (HBRT) works to realize the UWSP commitment "to respect all regardless of race, ethnicity, age, class, gender, sexual orientation, physical abilities/qualities, religion, nationality, or any other differences" and "to provide all Pointers the tools needed to feel safe and included," as promised in the UWSP Inclusive Excellence Declaration.
The UWSP HBRT exists to collect information on hate and bias incidents affecting our campus community (generating reports, suggesting policy change and training) and to provide support for affected parties.
ACTIONS:
- Diversity and College Access Director hired in July 2017 along with student ambassadors and interns
Hired a Coordinator of Gender and Sexuality Outreach Services
- Dean of Students Office campaign “See Something, Hear Something, Say Something” to get the campus community to report incidents of misconduct and concern.
- Several well-attended Coffee and Culture Talks through Student Involvement
- Round table discussion "Tuning In" where diversity issues were discussed
- Student Government Assocation video campaign to hear people's stories of what life is like at UW-Stevens Point.
- Provide Safe Zone Workshops for UWSP faculty, staff, and students.
- Dean of Students website provides resources for LGBTQ faculty, staff, and students and victims of bias/hate crime or other behavioral misconduct
- Distribute materials to show support for LGBTQ individuals and issues
- Sponsor events and activities related to significant LGBTQ dates.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has hosted the Upward Bound Program for over 50 years. It is a pre-college program and part of the Federal TRIO Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education. All participants are underrepresented high school students, grades ninth through twelfth. The Upward Bound Program recruits its student-participants from six target high school districts in five counties from Central and Northcentral Wisconsin.

The Native American Center responds to needs of Wisconsin Native American communities.
LGBTQ resources include an outreach coordinator, Rainbow Center, faculty and staff allies, and community resources. Members of LGBTQ will coordinate training sessions (Safe Zone Workshops) in a department, division, unit or group.
Solid Foundations is a successful retention program serving low income/first generation college students.
The Upward Bound Program prepares students who are economically and socially underrepresented in higher education due to their families’ educational background and income level to enter and complete postsecondary education of choice.
Non-traditional student services include career services, child care, activities, financial aid information.

The AOP Fellowship is a University of Wisconsin program designed to increase the number of minority/disadvantaged (M/D) students entering and completing graduate programs on a full or part-time basis, thereby increasing M/D representation in UW graduate education and subsequently in professional and academic careers in Wisconsin. Both Wisconsin residents and non-resident students are eligible, although preference is given to Wisconsin residents. Full-time and part-time graduates are eligible.
