A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
Common Council is the representative body of academic staff, faculty, and university staff in UW-Stevens Point shared governance. All university personnel (academic staff, faculty, and university staff) play an important role in recommending policies to the administration in many areas; academic and curricular issues are the specific responsibility of faculty and academic staff. Student Government Association’s role is to be active participants in the governance of the university, representing student interests, and creating policies concerning student life, services, and interests. We maintain the sole authority over the disposition of the allocable Segregated University Fees and the review of non-allocable Segregated University Fees. We also appoint students for institutional governance positions.

Part 4. Community engagement bodies
A brief description of the campus-community council or equivalent body that gives external stakeholders a regular voice in institutional decisions that affect them:
With the signing of the UWSP Second Nature climate resiliency commitment by the UWSP Chancellor in 2023, there was the creation of a campus community task force. As part of this, several committees and working groups were formed by members of the three branch campuses as well as the larger UWSP community. This more inclusive approach towards forming the Climate & Action Resiliency Plan (CARP) was put in place in an effort to ensure that the campus has a holistic approach to solving these wicked problems. As a result the following committees were formed, all with 1-3 campus-community members involved:
- Academics & Curriculum
- Buildings & Operations
- Economics & Procurement
- Ecosystems & Planetary Health
- Health & Wellness
- Risk Management & Safety
- Social Equity & Governance
- Transportation
- Waste Management
These stakeholders have met once a semester in their respective working groups and an additional time during larger events that bring every working group together. The end goal of these working groups is a CARP that focuses on the campus but takes into consideration the importance that the surrounding community plays a part in. As community members participate in this working groups they are given an opportunity to shape the direction of the institution and their forthcoming plans.
