Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
During the 2020-2021 academic year, the UW-Stevens Point Office of Sustainability partnered with OrganiCup to offer free menstrual cups to students as part of the Campus Cup program. We received 501 menstrual cups to hand out, which helped to eliminate 264,528 pads and tampons worth of waste while they are in use. Approximately 300 menstrual cups were received by students in October 2020. We ran a second Campus Cup campaign during Earth Week 2021, where approximately 100 more students were given free menstrual cups. This program engaged the campus in learning about sustainability in menstrual products, eliminated waste from single-use menstrual products, and made sustainability more affordable by making menstrual cups available to students for free. The Office of Sustainability continues to maintain a supply of Organicups as part of our Freestore programs and they continue to market them during Earth Week every year.
