Does the sustainability office have initiatives specifically designed to recruit sustainability employees from underrepresented groups?:
Yes
A brief description of the initiatives specifically designed to recruit sustainability employees from underrepresented groups:
The UWSP Office of Sustainability presents to diversity and inclusivity related clubs each year informing them of our volunteer and paid work opportunities. We work closely with the Office of Diversity and College Access during Earth Week planning to implement an event(s) specifically for diverse students.
Taking into consideration Earth Week, the Office of Sustainability ran Sustainability Vendor Fair and the EcoFair we work together with DCA to encourage their involvement in all aspects of sustainability and the holistic nature of it. Finally, we also reach out to multiple graduate programs which broadens our recruitment pool due to our ability to support remote work situations.
Though our DEI efforts are facing backlash at a state level, we continue to collaborate with the diversity office in an effort to make sure underrepresented groups are aware of the opportunities available to them.

Does the sustainability office ensure that sustainability employees complete DEI training?:
Yes
A brief description of the DEI trainings for sustainability employees:
The DEI training is mandatory by all UWSP staff bi-yearly. The training is 2 hours and discusses inclusive language, sexuality, gender, and a variety of practice exercises.
As part of GROW, we have to have additional DEI training in order to maintain certification.

Does the sustainability office regularly collaborate on events, projects, or initiatives with the institution’s DEI office/program and/or organizations that support underrepresented groups on campus?:
Yes
A brief description of events, projects, or initiatives during the previous year developed in collaboration with the DEI office/program and/or organizations that support underrepresented groups on campus:
For Earth Week 2022 and 2023, the OOS and DCA collaborated to put on a "Coffee and Culture". We're looking to replicate this collaboration going forward into 2024 and beyond. Additionally, multiple DCA students have joined the Earth Week planning committee so there will be continued collaboration as we enter into 2024. Finally, our student run green fund is also used in collaboration with DCA as one of the past projects was the development and maintenance of an Ethnobotanical garden.
Does the sustainability office or committee include at least one individual with formal DEI and/or environmental or social justice responsibilities?:
Yes
Documentation of the formal DEI and/or environmental or social justice responsibilities:
Two positions within the OOS are focused on social justice in different ways. First, our Free Store Coordinator is focused on ensuring students have access to necessary school supplies, non-perishable foods and lightly used clothing. This position is heavily focused on equity across campus. Additionally our Climate Action & Resiliency Planner (CARP) is focused on a broader approach to the universities action towards climate change. This ties in with how we ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment for students while also reducing our impact on the climate.
