A brief description of the institution’s community garden:

UWSP's campus garden is run by the student organization Students for Sustainability. They source their plants from a local non-profit organization focused on sustainable and local food communities. Each year, Students for Sustainability hires 1-3 student garden managers to tend to the garden over the summer. The produce grown is available for anyone to harvest and take home, but about 150 pounds of produce is donated every year. The donated food goes to The Suites (an on-campus living facility) or the Giving Gardens of Portage County to help feed those in need. Also, the campus garden is used as a compost drop-off site for students who are not able to pay for a curbside compost pick-up service.
