University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
IC-1: Institutional Boundary
Institution type: Associate (i.e., short-cycle), Baccalaureate, Doctoral/Research, or Master's:
Institutional control (Public, Private for-profit, or Private non-profit):
A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
Campus size: 400 acres and 35 buildings
13 residence halls, housing about 3,500 students
280-acre Schmeeckle Nature Reserve on campus
3 College of Natural Resources Field Stations (Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, Schmeeckle Reserve, and Treehaven) and managed forests
Aquaponics Innovation Center
Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
|Other professional school with labs and clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary)||No||No|
|Farm larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares||No||No|
|Agricultural experiment station larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares||Yes||Yes|
The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
We have four field stations in our greenhouse gas inventory and consider them “satellite campuses”. The acreage for each station is included in our total campus area. All buildings located at each field station are included in our gross floor area of building space. All energy consumption, (electric, gas, LP gas) from the field stations are reported in our greenhouse gas inventory and are therefore included in our total carbon emissions.
One of the field stations, the Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility, is a 40-acre agricultural experiment station. We have an Aquaponics Innovation Center designated as an experimental farm.
UW-Stevens Point has a Clinical Lab Science program, a pre-nursing program and a RN to BSN completion program.
We also have a Paper Science and Engineering program with a pilot paper machine.
