A brief description of the socially responsible investment option for retirement plans:
The Tax-Sheltered Annuity Program is a supplemental retirement savings program authorized by section 403(b) of the Internal Revenue Code. All University of Wisconsin employees, including student hourlies and graduate assistants — with the exception of some employees-in-training, fellows, and interns — are eligible to participate.
A System-sponsored workshop was offered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) and College Retirement Equities Fund (CREF) called "Socially Responsible Investing Workshop", which was also available for viewing online.
Employees can also view a TIAA-CREF's Socially Responsible Investing booklet "Global Strategies, Global Impact", which is available online.
Socially responsible options include: TIAA-CREF Social
Choice; TIAA-CREF Social Choice Equity; Dreyfus Third Century Fund; Lincoln LVIP Delaware Social Awareness;
Neuberger Berman Advisers Management Trust Socially Responsive Portfolio; Calvert Variable Series, Inc. Social Balanced Portfolio.
