Total energy consumption (electric and non-electric)

Total energy consumption, performance year:
207,086.90 MMBtu

Clean and renewable energy sources

Clean and renewable electricity

Clean and renewable electricity (report kilowatt-hours):
kWh MMBtu
Imported electricity from certified/verified clean and renewable sources (i.e., bundled green power purchases) 35,214 Kilowatt-hours 120.15 MMBtu
Electricity from on-site, clean and renewable sources (rights retained/retired) 0 Kilowatt-hours 0 MMBtu

A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable electricity:
UWRF is a partner with the city of River Falls Community Solar project. UWRF purchased 37 solar panels which are each 315 watts.

A brief description of the on-site renewable electricity generating facilities/devices:
5.3 kW single axis PV tracker and 9.5 kW of fixed PV panels were installed on the RDI Building in 2013.The local utility assigns these RECs to UW-River Falls.

Clean and renewable thermal energy

Clean and renewable thermal energy (report MMBtu):
MMBtu
Clean and renewable stationary fuels used on-site to generate thermal energy 12.00 MMBtu
Imported steam, hot water, and/or chilled water from certified/verified clean and renewable sources 0 MMBtu

A brief description of the clean and renewable stationary fuels:
5.3 kW single axis PV tracker and 9.5 kW of fixed PV panels were installed on the RDI Building in 2013.The local utility assigns these RECs to UW-River Falls.

A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable thermal energy:
2 – 4’x10’ solar thermal collectors at the Research Development Institute building.
16 – 4’x10’ solar thermal collectors at Ames Suites Residence Hall.

Unbundled renewable energy products

Unbundled renewable energy products (report kWh):
kWh MMBtu
Purchased RECs, GOs, I-RECs or equivalent unbundled renewable energy products certified by a third party 562,685 Kilowatt-hours 1,919.88 MMBtu

A brief description of the unbundled renewable energy products:
This comes from the State of Wisconsin Renewable Energy Actions including the WPPI and WPS contracts. The Wisconsin Department of Administration purchases RECS and then allocates them to state agencies as a portion of their annual electricity consumption. State-purchased green energy is broken out to individual campuses, including UW-River Falls.

Metrics used in scoring

Total clean and renewable energy generated or purchased:
2,052.03 MMBtu

Percentage of total energy consumption from clean and renewable sources:
0.99
