A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

Human Resources provides orientation and outreach to all new employees, highlighting shredding and recycling locations, available committees, and campus services as part of the overview. Employees are informed of the surplus property program, a waste diversion initiative which also saves campus departments financial resources as they are able to get items for free. The program highlights the reuse of items to be more fiscally and environmentally responsible. Employees also receive training on the support services available to students, faculty, and staff.

Each fall UWRF hosts "Opening Week," which has events that cater to both new and current faculty and academic staff. The meetings, orientation, and workshops change every year, but include sustainability related information regularly. In February 2021, a sustainability training was provided specifically to faculty and Instructional Academic Staff who were new to UWRF this academic year.
