Total percentage of the institution’s employees that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary method of transportation:
25.40

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Information for this credit was gathered from the UWRF Parking Survey, which was last administered in 2005. 'More sustainable Commuting Options' was interpreted as any commuting method that was not driving alone. As noted on the Parking Survey, good weather vs. bad weather had a negligible impact on transportation modes. The results for this credit were therefore taken from the "Good Weather" category. Small differences in the numbers reported in the survey and the numbers reported here are due to rounding. Recommendations have been made in the Sustainable Campus Community Plan to update the data as soon as possible.

The percentage of the institution's employees that use each of the following modes as their primary means of transportation to and from campus::
Percentage (0-100)
Commute with only the driver in the vehicle (excluding motorcycles and scooters) 74.60
Walk, bicycle, or use other non-motorized means 11.20
Vanpool or carpool 12.90
Take a campus shuttle or public transportation 0
Use a motorcycle, scooter or moped 1
Telecommute for 50 percent or more of their regular work hours 0

Falcon Outdoor Adventures (a program of Campus Recreation) offers bicycle rental to students, staff, and the RF community. Bicycles can be checked out 5 days a week for day, weekend, or weekly use. There is a fee for bicycle rental for staff and community members, however, bicycle rental for students is free. A long term (semester) lease program is available for students for a fee. In 2016, the River Falls community worked with with Pierce County and UWRF to implement a bike share program for the campus and community called the Blue Bike program.
