The percentage of institutionally purchased appliances that are ENERGY STAR rated (of eligible appliance categories):
Does the institution have a policy to purchase ENERGY STAR appliances whenever possible?:
The percentage of expenditures on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified office paper (US/Canadian dollars) :
Does the institution’s vendor code or policy require vendors to use less packaging?:
All paper purchased at UWRF is 30% or greater post-consumter recycled content; office paper is SFI certified, versus FSC certified. Both certifications have inherent flaws that make their guarantees questionable, the most important of which include conflicts of interest within the certification process, inadequate outside review, excessively paper based CoC certification, and fragmented complaint procedures. However, both certification systems lead to a roughly equal guarantee of sustainable harvest practices, and therefore UWRF equates SFI certification as equal to FSC certification.
