A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
In light of the comprehensive nature of STARS across the traditional triple bottom line indicators of sustainability, its emergence as the premier metric framework by which institutions of higher education can gauge their performance, and the recognition it now has amongst North American institutions… The University of Wisconsin - River Falls is re-organizing and reconstructing everything around this model. We are using the STARS categories and credits to re-draft our CAPlan, our Sustainable Campus Community Plan, the redesign of our sustainability websites, and future sustainability efforts and communication. Our intent is to build continuity across all facets of our sustainability efforts and documents and to incorporate a readily identifiable and easily navigated system into them. We believe this to be an innovative practice that will lead to better sustainability awareness, literacy, and action throughout our campus and our community and will assist in recommending and implementing more sustainable practices throughout.
