UWRF previously (2010-11) had an intentional learning community entitled iRock, which any first year residential student could join. The learning community was open to all first year students in any hall; no common wing or floor was dedicated to the community. The learning community had sustainability, personal wellness, and social justice themes built into the required courses students in the learning community were required to take.
In 2011-12, however, the learning community has been retitled to uMatter and the term sustainability has been dropped from the intentional outcome of the commuity. While the required courses remain the same, the focus and the advertising of the learning community have omitted sustainability as a focus.
