The position is advertised with other leadership positions for the residence halls. Students must submit a brief application to be considered for the position. Students volunteer for the position. If there is more than one person interested in the position, there is an election held.

The students receive a general leadership training which covers the concepts of leadership and service.

Staff members are not assigned to work directly with Eco Reps. They are advised by the student Hall Managers in their respective halls. UWRF does not have financial support available for the position.

The Earth Conscious Organization (a.k.a. ECO Club) is a student organization that provides outreach activities as opportuniteis for peers to learn about sustainability topics. However, ECO Club members are volunteer and the organization is open to all students. UWRF does not select or appoint student educators or provide any formal outreach training. Therefore UWRF is currently not pursuing this credit.
