Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The University has a relatively new Green Fund (started in fall 2016) that can fund faculty to develop curriculum or integrate sustainability into existing courses. To be funded projects must do at least one of the following: 1) Visually exhibit sustainability on campus to make campus a living laboratory for sustainability; 2) Integrate sustainability into formal curriculum and professional preparedness; 3) Build resources that promote and support campus sustainability; 4) Increase awareness of campus sustainability efforts within the community and broader region; 5) Make sustainability part of our daily campus operations.
So far the fund has been used in several projects that incorporate sustainability into existing courses, including the establishment of a native medicinal garden and purchases two bee hives, both on campus.
